About Me

Greetings

I was born and raised in Altona, Manitoba to Don and Leona Falk. I have an older brother and a sister-in-law who currently reside in Winnipeg, Manitoba. When I was growing up I considered myself a tom-boy, possibly due to the ever popular mushroom haircut. I tried every sport that was offered to me including competition swimming. As I grew up I began to crave more competition in the sports I was playing. Therefore, I began playing A Fastball in Winnipeg, hockey out of Morden, and competition swimming in Winnipeg. Of all the sports I played I was able to get a full scholarship, first to Rainy River Community College than to the College of St Scholastica. I played softball and hockey for both schools.
I didn't always know I wanted to be a teacher. When I was younger I wanted to be a professional hockey player, then it changed to owning my own restaurant. When I hit grade 12 I wanted to be a Pharmacist. Then when I hit college it changed to Optometrist, Chiropractor, Accountant and Audiologist. After so many choices and applying to schools I decided to give teaching a try. I love working with kids and seeing them improve their skills in a particular sport. Everyone on my softball team said I would make a good teacher because of how I connected with the kids we worked with and I had a great "teacher's voice" they said.
Currently I am in my second year of an education major. I spent my first student teaching placement at Steinbach Regional Secondary School and as soon as I taught my first lesson I knew I had finally made the right career choice. When I am in front of the classroom I can't help but smile because I found a career that I can't wait to start and get up every morning for. Being a teacher is like being a professional student you are always learning something new and everyday brings new experiences.
In my personal life I am getting married to the man of my dreams in June and we are currently building a house in Rosetown. I said I would never marry a farmer but life throws you curveballs. Therefore, in June I will be a farmers wife with a new house in the country and the view of a bean field out my back window.
